The number of people wanting to build homes in
Juneau far exceeds the available building lots.

Juneau sewer rates more than double those of Anchorage, higher than Fairbanks

Juneau's wastewater rates as of Dec. 1 will be more than double those in Anchorage and slightly higher than the rates in Fairbanks. Juneau's water rates will continue to be lower than those in Anchorage and Fairbanks.

A guide to home heating-oil fuel tanks

Fuel oil leaks can be messy, smelly, and hard on the environment and on the wallet. Every year the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation responds to dozens of home heating-oil fuel tank spills. In the past five years over 11,000 gallons of home heating oil have been released into the environment, maybe more.

Minimizing damage in a cold-weather environment

The Insurance Information Institute (III) says the severe cold weather with snowfalls interspersed with periods of melting and freezing, can inflict considerable damage on your home.

Dream homes: a window into how we've changed

The way we live and our intense quest to express individuality has resulted in dramatic differences.

New materials and techniques ensure longer-lasting roofs and drier houses

A well-built and well-maintained roof is critical to the health of every structure, especially in a wet climate like Southeast Alaska. Builders, designers and manufacturers are constantly working to develop problem-free roof systems.
